La Fiaccola Olimpica entrò nel territorio della Provincia romana al km. 48,340 della Via Appia Nuova, il 24 agosto del 1960 alle ore 17 e 12' e fu presa dal Prefetto che la consegnò al primo tedoforo della Provincia. I successivi passaggi dinnanzi ai Municipi dei vari Comuni avvennero nelle ore seguenti: Velletri, ore 17,43; Genzano, ore 18,32'30"; Ariccia, ore 18,43 15"; Albano, ore 18,53'12 "; Castelgandolfo, ore 19,03; Roma Campidoglio, ore 21. Arrivando sul Campidoglio, l'ultimo tedoforo salutò la folla sollevando verso di essa la Fiaccola con la quale, subito dopo, fu acceso il tripode la cui fiamma rimase viva fino all'indomani. Si concluse così la grande staffetta partita da Olympia ed arrivata a Roma dopo 12 giorni.
The Olympic Torch entered the territory of the Roman Province at km 48,340 of the Via Appia Nuova on August 24, 1960, at 5:12 PM and was taken by the Prefect, who handed it over to the Province's first torchbearer. The subsequent passages before the Municipalities of the various Municipalities took place in the following hours: Velletri, 5:43 pm; Genzano, 6:32:30 pm; Ariccia, 6:43:15 pm; Albano, 6:53:12 pm; Castelgandolfo, 7:03 pm; Roma Campidoglio, 9:00 pm. Arriving on the Capitol, the last torchbearer greeted the crowd by raising the Torch towards it, with which, immediately afterwards, the tripod was lit, the flame of which remained alive until the next day. Thus ended the great relay that started in Olympia and arrived in Rome after 12 days.
