VILLAGGIO OLIMPICO SETRIERE - SESTRIERE OLYMPIC VILLAGE

Sestriere has hosted both the Olympic Games and the Paralympic Games. The Village then hosted the athletes and staff during the two periods from February 10 to 26 and from March 10 to 19, 2006. All villages were designed to provide athletes and their companions with a protected, comfortable, and stimulating environment to foster interaction between guests and allow for adequate preparation for Olympic competitions. The Village of Sestriere comprises three structures: the existing white towers (Club Med and Valtur), the very symbol of the city, and a residential complex called ‘Mariani’ built specifically for the Olympics. Once fully operational, the Village hosted approximately 2,000 people, including athletes, companions, Olympic delegations, and staff, and formed an autonomous and self-sufficient core that met all the guests' needs. During the Games the Village was operational 24 hours a day.
